This ones for you Shannon, the boys can't wait to meet you! They love their name animals. I put them over the changing table so they can look at them all the time.

Free At Last

Yesterday was a banner day for the boys and myself. I was finally cleared from the OBGYN to resume my normal life. It seems my wound is almost healed, there is a tiny hole. Nothing compared to what it used to be there. After seeing the doctor each week for the past 18 weeks, I feel liberated (and richer sans copay). So we decided to celebrate by going out just the three of us. Yes you heard me right I took the boys out alone. It was GREAT! We went to Kohls, and then Target, where we had to take a break so Rowan could eat and Kieran could stare at the lights. Then it was off to the outlets to return and browse. I think I may have pushed it by going to the outlets (Rowan had a meltdown in the last store) but all in all it was a nice day out. The boys are enjoying a evening nap.

The boys had a doctors appointment yesterday so here are the stats:

Rowan weighed a whopping 9 lbs, 14 ounces.

Kieran weighed a whopping 8 lbs, 11 ounces.

They are still about a pound apart, if Kieran could stop being a nosy body all the time and eat alittle more, he might catch his brother. Other than that they are doing very well.

Happy Easter

We made it back to LI safe and sound, just in time for Easter. The boys had a great time visiting with their aunt's, uncle and grandparents. They really like it because there is always someone to hold them. It was pretty uneventful, just the way we like it.

The tour is coming to an end. The boys had lots of visits in the past two days. We are a little sad to be going home this Saturday but we will be back next month.

St. Patty's Day

St. Patrick's day started with the boys double teaming me to eat. Rowan gobbled all of his food and quickly fell asleep. He looks so funny in his chair. Kieran on the other hand wanted nothing to do with his bottle once he got into his seat. Instead, spending his time looking out the window.

The tour continues, with Tante Ute making an appearance and Tante Irene back for more. Once again she refused to let go of Kieran who took a much needed nap in her arms. Rowan enjoyed the company of Tante Ute.

This morning the boys are playing on the floor. They love their play gym. Rowan is interested in the light of the window and Kieran is studying Rowan. He is making cooing noises at him, but Rowan hasn't noticed him yet. It is very cute and I can't wait until they start to really notice one another.

RoadTrip

As my father-in-law says the boys are going on tour. We made our first journey to my parents house upstate. The drive went well, with me only having to climb into the back of the car once near the end of the trip. It was a tight squeeze but I fit thanks to my father who loaded us all up and drove in the wee hours of the morning.

First stop on the tour Beth's house, which was filled with lots of relatives. The boys did great, they were social and Kieran was only a little cranky. Thanks to Angela and Madeline, who had no problems holding him for an extended period of time, everyone enjoyed themselves.

Next up, a visit from Tante Irene and Uncle Rugert. Again they did great. Tante Irene enjoyed feeding Kieran and Rowan really liked Uncle Rugert, they had play time.

As of now both boys are napping in their play yard. They really like it placed next to the window. The whole first day all they did was lay in there and look out the window cooing at the trees, which I find very cute.

Update

Sorry it has been so long with an update but things have been a little hectic at home. The boys are more alert and this cuts into my computer time drastically. So let's see what has been going on. The boys had their first trip to the library.

I needed to pick up the book Happiest Baby on the Block. To my delight they had the book on DVD. Well I took it home and watched about 10 minutes of it. Pat couldn't handle all the crying on the video, and I agreed. We came to the realization that we are very lucky parents, our boys cry only when they need something and this method of baby calming wasn't really for us. I need to find a really big piece of wood to knock on now.

Other than that the week was uneventful. I had my first vomit, which scared the living daylight out of me. (There will be no pictures of that). Poor Rowan, I think I overfed him. Thank god for my mother-inlaw, she came over the next day after an entire night of no sleep. I kept checking on him, not knowing what to do. He was fine a few hours later and ate like a champ.

The boys seem to be sleeping longer stretched, or should I say going in between feedings at longer stretched. It's very nice and hopefully soon we will be able to figure out some sort of schedule that works for both boys and mom.

First Mall Trip

My mother came down this weekend to spend some time with the boys. She really is a great help, letting us get some sleep at night. Pat especially likes being able to get to bed early and sleep late. We are very lucky, since we have Pat's family help during the week. Without them I would have mounds of laundry and very unhappy babies. There are times I feel bad that I can't hold both of them during feedings. It is such a help when there are an extra pair of hands here to help with the endless feedings and numerous hugs babies need. I am very thankful to have been blessed with such wonderful parents and inlaws.

This weekend was filled with many firsts. To start we went to the mall. What a learning experience. I now know to bring my own water to make the formula, cold bottled water does not work well and the babies definitely do not like it. Dr. Browns nippled DO NOT work on the disposable formula bottles. Poor Kieran was soaked in his carrier with formula before we realized the nipples didn't work. All in all I a pretty sure I can not venture far from home alone yet. It was alot of work for the two of us. Rowan liked the mall he wanted to eat his way through it and Kieran slept the whole time.

Many people ask us how we handle both babies when we are alone. Thank god most of the time one baby is content and the other needs some love. But every now and then both babies need some love and only one set of hands is available. On Sunday I found myself alone with two fussy babies. After a long walk in the cold they still needed some love. SO the best solution I could come up with was to stack them. Thank god Pat came home before they woke, to save me.

A typical morning includes several poopy diapers, endless feedings and a few naps (by babies, not mom). This morning was like all others. To speed up the feedings I insist the boys eat at the same time. As you can imagine, if I don't do it this way, I could essentially change, feed and put down for nap one son, then start the next. By the time I finish the second baby I would have to start all over again with the first. Sometimes this is agreeable to both boys but other times as you can see it is not.

Walk by the Sound

We went for our first walk today!! Their hats were just a little big for their heads but they will grow into them. It was a nice sunny day, we have had few and far between these days so we took advantage of it. The boys enjoyed it, with Rowan sleeping the whole time and Kieran taking in the scenery. Both boys had a nice nap afterwards.

Welcome to Our Blog

Welcome to the bog of our twins boys. Hopefully I will be able to post photos and videos of the boys on a regular basis for family and friends afar to see. As I type one little boy is taking his required morning nap, so mommy can get a few things done (like play on the computer). Another little boy just wants to sit with mommy, never wanting to sleep.
