Odds and Ends

It's been an exciting week. The boys are in full teething mode. They chew everything. Patrick picked them up some new toys for their exersaucer and they love the chew fish. Rowan is especially good at turning it just right to get the whole fish in his mouth.

The other day I decided to spend the afternoon outside with both boys. I moved the exersaucers onto the deck and we enjoyed some jump time in the fresh air. Kieran liked looking at the trees while Rowan was fascinated with Milo the cat. Milo has lost his fear of the boys and will now venture around them. This prompts Rowan to try and grab him. He is usually successful at getting a handful of Milo's fur. Which just grosses me out.

Since the boys are so much more active these days we needed to get them a few toys that they can interact with. Off the Babies R Us we went. We finally decided on a walker for them to share. Rowan was the first to go in it and he was fascinated by his new view. He moves it backwards, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't realized it is him who is actually moving it. Kieran isn't to sure of it yet and is happy to suck on the toys that are attached to it. We also scored some toys at a yard sale. Kieran likes the sing along station since he can see both of us in the mirror. Although I think he would love if there was something for him to chew on.

Earlier this week Patrick was watching the boys while I had a chiropractor appointment. I am in desperate need of back pain relief. As you can see he has a different idea of watching them than I do...

What a Big Boy You Have

The boys had their 5 3/4- 6 month checkup this past Monday. Wow have they grown.

Rowan

18 pound 10 ounces

Height 26 3/4 inches

Kieran

16 pounds 10 ounces

Height 27 1/2 inches

Both little guys enjoy their toys now. Patrick enjoys giving each boy the end of this snake toy and watching them have a tug of war. In terms of milestones Rowan and Kieran can roll over, touch their toes, talk nonstop and desperately try to sit up.

Last night was a great night for sleep in this house. After so many sleepless nights lately I thought I was going to go insane. Rowan slept until 5 am. I found him asleep on his tummy for the first time, how adorable. Kieran slept until 4 am. I didn't get up once in the night. That has never happened. Lets hope the trend continues.

Poolside

What a refreshing day we had. The three of us spent a nice day out at my in-laws house. After our early arrival the boys enjoyed some carrots and a bottle. Then partook in an afternoon nap for a whole 2 hours. Rowan sleeps like such a big boy now, snuggling his blanket.

Once everyone woke from their lengthy nap we took a dip in the pool. Kieran was so cute in his dinosaur boat. He immediately hugged the dinosaur and splashed his hands in the water. Rowan had a adventurous boat ride thanks to grandma. Grandpa was our professional photographer/cabana boy for the day.

After our afternoon swim Rowan and Kieran had some yummy peas in their new high chairs. Another twin mom gave me her high chairs after her girls were using them at bumper cars during meal time. The chairs are so nice, the boys look like little princes in them. The ones I have at my house sit on the chair themselves, these have all sorts of bells and whistles. Kieran was just relaxing in his with his feet up. Once we were done it was time to head home to greet daddy.

Happy Anniversary!

Three years ago today! My inlaws are coming to watch the boys. We are very fortunate that they live close and are more than willing to drive the 45 minutes for us. Patrick and I will be enjoying a nice sushi dinner. I am beyond excited.

Thank you Aunt Sha Sha for the cool new hats and toys! The boys look so cute and love the blocks. Kieran really likes to eat them and Rowan holds them to look at the doggies. Thanks for thinking of us.
Oh sleep..... where have you been???? After seeing that the grass is really greener on the other side, I would love to return to the world of sleep. It seems I have one boy who won't sleep during the day and another who seems to be having problems at night. Let's start with Kieran, the serious child as he is known around here. He refuses to nap unless you hold him. Something that I do not have the luxury of doing all day. I need to break him of this habit and break him FAST.. Rowan our jolly baby has had some difficulty lately. He has been waking up every hour on the hour crying with tears through out the night. The first night I thought it was the apple juice. He did the same thing a week ago when he had apple sauce. This made me think he may have an adverse reaction to apples. Well we cut out all the apples and he is still not sleeping well. I have been up with him practically all night several nights in a row. I need some sleep! I was talking with a girlfriend and she seems to think it is either an ear infection or teething. I hope it's not an ear infection, since we missed their 5 month appointment due to no breaks on the car. She suggested I give him Tylenol before bed and see how he does. Wish me luck and a restful night.

And Then They Rolled

Big day in the Casey household, both boys have officially rolled over, from their backs to their stomachs! Yeah, Rowan did it yesterday and quickly figured out how to roll both ways, grab a toy and roll back to enjoy that toy on his back. Kieran, not wanting to be outdone rolled over tonight. Which was really nice since Patrick was there to experience it. It is only a matter of time before they start to scoot. Rowan is already our little jumping bean. His legs go a mile a minute.

Fun Filled Visit with a Packed Car

After a few relaxing days upstate we had to venture home. With a packed car we decided to take the ferry. It's no fun jamming 3 adults and two kids into a Taurus. The boys had their first ferry ride and all went smoothly. Aunt Sha Sha took some beautiful pictures on the boat. The next day Patrick suggested I show Alex and Shannon some of Long Island. Once again the five of us jammed into the car for a "relaxing" drive out east. We walked around Greenport Village and actually had lunch at an outside eatery on the water. The afternoon was hot but relaxing. I used the big stroller for the first time out and was pleasantly surprised that it fit through doorways. Shannon was accosted by other baby mama's when she was watching the boys, while Alex and I perused the stores. The following day we had a photo shoot on the beach that didn't go so well, due to the sun and the boys outgrowing their sun hats. Next time we will have to go at dusk. All in all it was an excellent visit.

More From the 4th

I have a few more cute photo's of our weekend upstate. The boys enjoyed their ears of corn and Kieran is starting to get the hang of a few things. He likes the exersaucer and tries to hold his bottle.

Happy 4th

After a Very long week, we have ventured upstate to spend some time with my parents, brother and sister in law. The boys are growing fast. Rowan can now hold both of his feet and he talks up a storm. Kieran is trying to get his feet but he never stops talking. It's cute to watch them scoot their little bodies all over the floor, usually towards one another. They are so interested in one another. The other day Kieran was belly laughing at Rowan and just today Rowan was laughing at Kieran. I got some video of that but nothing great.

Rowan has become a really good eater. He loves just about anything we give him. Kieran is still having a hard time understanding how to eat off a spoon. But give the boy a banana or strawberry in the mesh bag and he goes crazy.
They have progressed to a reasonable nap schedule. We are still working the kinks out but it has gotten so much better. I can actually get a few things done and enjoy the quiet time in the afternoons.
