Uncle Mike and Aunt Kelly had the four of us over the other night and boy did Rowan and Kieran enjoy themselves. Not only were they allowed to stay up late, the even got to get up close and personal with Frank the yellow lab. Rowan loves dogs and he is mobile, so as you can imagine Frank had no peace. Frank wasn't too sure what to make of the Rowan and Kieran, especially when they were in their walkers chasing him all over. Surprisingly Kieran was also fond of Frank, I think it was because he wasn't wild around them. He just sniffed and licked Rowan once. Hopefully there will be more family visits in the future.Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Rowan and Kieran have been pretty sick this week. We have had some long nights and days. Yesterday I couldn't be stuck in this smelly house. The smell of spit up coupled with no washing machine is about to drive me insane. We headed to the park for a walk and swing ride. Hoping the fresh air helps us all...

Rowan has discovered the front door, he really is getting around now. Kieran just lays there looking at him, no desire to scoot or crawl. It's amazing how different they are, I thought for sure Kieran would start scooting once he saw Rowan doing it. No such luck though, Rowan just scoots right over him now.

Two Runny Noses

The boys have their first official cold: green mucus pouring from their noses, cough and fever. I'm not really sure what to do, being a first time mom and all. I've given them Motrin and lots of hugs but they just seem to be miserable. Yesterday we started the day (5 am) with Rowan vomiting all over me, the floor, himself and the crib. The day ended with Kieran vomiting all over me, himself, the crib and MY BED. To top it all of the cesspool is backed up again, so no wash for us until Friday when they come to put a new one in. The lack of sleep and crying babies is all worth it, when they find each other on the floor in the morning and just start laughing and talking. It is the cutest thing you have ever seen.

A Big Fat THANK YOU

THANK YOU Andrew and Catie for sharing all of your old toys with the boys. They spent a good part of the morning exploring the great new toys and then settling on some new fav's. As you can see a few disagreements were had this morning but there were plenty on new toys to go around. Kieran had a good time throwing the cool balls out of his walker and then trying to run them over. I think poor Milo may have been an unintended target a few times. The kitchen floor was covered in them, surely a tripping hazard.

Kieran on a side note has found a new voice. He sounds like a possessed demon but we're going with it. I took a sign language class the past two nights and have started with a few signs that I can remember. Rowan and Kieran really like it when I sing and sign the Old MacDonald song. Hopefully I can keep it up and my little boys become geniuses.

Enjoying the Hot Weather
It was uncharacteristically hot and humid yesterday. We decided to take out the pool and let the boys cool off. Rowan and Kieran really like the water and it tires them out, something both Patrick and I like. Whenever we have pool time it is early to bed for the whole family.

A Whole Lot of Mischief and STTN

I was thinking back to the beginning days, where all they did was eat, sleep and poop. Those days are long gone, I have been blessed with two active boys. Rowan is currently pulling the toy bucket over, not sure why since he has so many toys already on the floor. Kieran is rolling all over the floor towards interesting toys. He's pretty fond of books and cars. Now if we could just get him to like animals.
This morning both boys slept til 8 am after their 5 am feeding. IT WAS WONDERFUL! I could get used to this sleeping through the night stuff.
I'm not to sure what we are going to do today, was thinking of the farm again, but it looks pretty overcast. Maybe a trip to BRU for some more safety devices.

New Carseats and a Farm
With much sadness we said goodbye to our beloved infant car seats. Patrick installed the new Big Boy car seats. After tons of research and lots of advice from other parents we settled on the Radian 80's. The Radian seats are popular among parents of multiple children. Apparently three seats fit nicely in the back seat of a sedan. I was attracted to the fact that the babies will be in a 5 point harness until they reach 80 pounds.

Before the rainy weather arrived today we visited the local game farm. I wanted the boys to get some fresh air and Rowan just loves animals. The donkey was licking his foot and he thought this was so funny. I didn't get a great picture, since the flash scared him away.
Oh boy are we in trouble! Rowan has officially started scooting around. He can get across a floor in no time. Kieran is still content to just roll everywhere. He goes from one end of the living room to the other is seconds just to get a toy. We are going to be in BIG trouble soon.

Saying Goodbye to Summer---Hello Teeth
The boys are enjoying the last few warm days left by relaxing poolside. They are getting big, Rowan was enjoying splashing in the water, while Kieran just wanted to pick up toys and throw them out of the pool. Patrick and Grandpa Casey came home just in time to entertain them.Earlier that day the three of us were at the grocery store and Kieran had his eye on a ball. Of course I picked it up and showed it to both of them. They immediately tried to grab for it, so it had to be bought. As I was carrying Kieran into the house in one hand, the ball in my other I had a fleeting thought that this might not be such a good idea. What am I crazy for giving two boys a ball in the HOUSE. This might start a very destructive trend. I quickly dismissed the notion, how could my two cute little boys destroy anything.....
I am proud to announce Kieran got his FIRST TOOTH. It's still at the gum line, but it is definitely there. He feels as if he has a little razor blade in his mouth. This explains all the drooling, constant chewing and overall cranky behavior. Poor Rowan doesn't have a tooth in sight.

It's A Bargain
This weekend we were pretty lucky with our toy finds. I was able to purchase a playwall off of craiglist. It is suppose to encourage them to crawl and hopefully stand one day. Rowan and Kieran like to lay under it and bat at all of the toys right now. Hopefully, they'll get the picture soon and figure out it's more fun to crawl through than have daddy stick his head through. On Sunday we went out east to my in-laws house. It was a beautiful day and my father in law and I picked up some cool toys from the reuse center. We found an outdoor swing and two walkers. As you can tell Kieran wasn't to fond of the grass, while Rowan just wanted to rip it all out of the ground.
Today I found a cute Little Tike's car for them at a garage sale. Pat power washed it and away they went for their inaugural stroll around the yard. I can tell already the car is going to be a big hit.
Rowan and Kieran both reach for you when they want to be picked up now. It's so adorable. My bets are on Rowan crawling first, he seems more interested in going places than Kieran.
