Afternoon Walk (Totally forgot to post this)

We usually take a walk in the afternoons depending on the weather. With this unusual burst of warm weather we decided to head down to the beach. The wet sand and sound of the waves made for a beautiful afternoon. Kieran actually enjoyed himself this time and entertained himself with all of the big rocks around. Rowan just liked to use the rocks as chew toys. Next summer is going to be a blast at the beach. Hopefully they will be walking by then and not eating everything in site.

On the weekends Patrick and I usually split who has to get up with the boys. In all fairness I know their routine and it is easier for me to get up with them in the morning. Patrick had the boys up extra early the other morning and as you can see things went downhill fast at breakfast. (Notice lack of bibs, hehe)

Finger Foods

Kieran and Rowan really enjoy feeding themselves. We have tried a few things this past week, all of which ended in a big mess. Some of us even tried things we weren't suppose to!

Roving Rowan

Rowan is ALL OVER THE PLACE! We had to install a gate to try and contain him. As you can see he's not too fond of it. He's pulling up on anything vertical. The basement can't be finished soon enough. When it's done every toy will be heading down the steps to the wonderful new safe playroom.

Kieran's latest antics involve feeding himself. He has started to refuse anything off the spoon, insisting on shoving all food in his mouth on his own. Since he can't survive on puffs alone I have started to give him finger foods. Last night was peas, not sure what today will bring since I am not really prepared for this step. Kieran has also starting scooting and attempting to crawl. He was very interested in Aunt Beth and her crazy socks this past weekend. So interested he actually scooted towards her.

Great Photos From Aunt Sha Sha

Uncle Alex and Aunt Shannon (Aunt Sha Sha as she was dubbed by Patrick) were here last week and as always they took some great photos. We will cherish the photos forever, even if Aunt Sha Sha had to spend 4 hours taking away buggers, mashed peas and all things nasty that accumulated on two little boys.

Horsing Around

The boys and I went to our first story time at the local bookstore. Not sure what I expected, but overall it was a nice time. Rowan was scared of the author, as she was dressed like a butterfly and apparently he doesn't like butterflies. He calmed down once I held him, Kieran really like the story time. He spent the whole time looking at her reading and the other little kids in the store. Afterwards we headed to the mall with another twin mama to get some exercise walking.

When we get home, I have to bring one boy in at a time. I usually place who ever is first in their walker and then head out to get the other child. Today both boys were in their walkers while I was fixing bottle. They usually spend most of the time playing bumper cars in the kitchen. However, today they ventured down the hall into their room. I walked in to find this, leading me to think we need better childproofing.

Crawling, Sitting and 2 Twenty Pounders

Sorry it's been so long but boy have I been busy. Rowan has officialy started crawling and as of yesterday mastered the art of sitting up on his own. He was pulling up in his crib, so we had to lower it to the lowest setting. A tooth appeared in his mouth the other day and I have a feeling the second one isn't far behind. Kieran is another story. He makes no attemps to crawl or sit on his own, but boy can he get around in his walker. I feel bad for him sometimes, since Rowan just crawls all over him. Kieran gets him back though by pulling on his hair.

At their 8 month check up:

Rowan
Heigth: 28 1/2 inches
Weight: 21 pounds 8 ounces
Kieran
Height : 29 inches
Weight: 20 pounds

My father and Patrick have been working on finishing the basement for some additional space. It's is coming along great and I can't wait until we are down there enjoying all of that open space. The toy to kid ratio has shy rocketed and it is getting crowded in this living room.

Alex and Shannon were in town this past weekend. Alex and I took the boys to the beach in the afternoon. Kieran wasn't a big fan of the waves, all Rowan wanted to do was crawl on the sand. Instead he took a header down the beach an almost ended up in the water. He was covered in sand but it didn't bother him.

We went pumpkin picking this past Sunday. I was a little leery about making the trek on a Sunday afternoon, with traffic being outrageous. Patrick took a few back roads and we were able to get there in minimal time. The boys got their first pumpkins and enjoyed chewing on some gourds.
