Happy Birthday Rowan and Kieran!

It was a year ago today that you came into this world. Rowan crying from the start and Kieran wide eyed, taking it all in. I can hardly believe a year has passed, it really doesn't seem possible. It's as if yesterday we saw two little beating dots on the screen as the doctor announced we were having twins. So much has happened since then, which I have tried to record. Hopefully, one day you will get some laughs out of reading this blog and sharing it with your children. Of course, we could not begin to tell you how much we love the two of you. My heart seemed to grow the minute Rowan was born and then only got bigger the next minute as Kieran arrived. Thank you for being two perfect little boys. All be it you vomited in excess, consumed mass amounts of bottles, pooped more than your fair share of diapers and I now define a good night sleep as 4 hours in a row; but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy First Birthday Kieran

Happy First Birthday Rowan

Today we spent the day with Uncle Alex and Aunt Sha Sha, enjoyed a relaxing (insert sarcasm here) lunch at Friendly's after our stroll around TRU. Then off to the airport to say goodbye. Kieran acquired a balloon from lunch and hasn't let it go since. He even took it into the bathtub tonight. Rowan and Kieran were very happy to get their hands on a cupcake for dessert
After everyone was cleaned up the boys enjoyed some TV time with Patrick.

Stripping

About a week ago Rowan discovered he could take his pants off on his own. While this was cute, it was rather annoying since I would find him pant less several times a day. The annoyance factor just reached a new level when we caught him taking off his shirt this afternoon! It's freezing out and he has no problem taking his cloths off???
Kieran and Rowan got a new beanbag from my mother today, and boy did they love it. They were fascinated to see and touch Mickey Mouse. We also took out some of the bigger ride on toys we had been saving. I'm never one to refuse old toys people are looking to discard. However, I think I need to start purging myself...

Boy of Boy

What a great visit with the pediatrician today... Rowan and Kieran are growing nicely and we were given the okay to stop formula. I couldn't be more thrilled, since the formula smells horrendous and stains everything. The big debate has started, to go cold turkey or try a weaning method. I'm leaning towards weaning them from the formula and then going cold turkey with no bottles, just sippy cups. Both boys refuse to hold their bottles still, but have no problem holding a sippy cup. If I can get them to drink their milk from a sippy cup, that would mean a life with out bottles! In retrospect the bottle situation isn't that bad, we started with 24 and are down to 8 bottles a day but seriously I think I have fed my fair share of bottles..

Rowan
Weight: 24 lbs 11 ounces
Height: 31 1/4 inches
Kieran
Weight 23 lbs 5 ounces
Height 31 1/2 inches

On a side note if you know anyone who uses Nutramegin, please let us know we have so much left over thanks to insurance and would love to give it to someone we know could use it.....

This Boy Needs a Haircut!

I am so torn as the when to cut Rowan's hair. He's not even a year old and his hair is extremely long. It covers his eyes and ears, which does seem to bother him at times. By cutting it, I feel as if he is growing up. We have thrown the idea of just trimming his bangs ourselves, but to be honest it is going to look really dumb. For now I am holding off...

Walking, Climbing Oh My....

Rowan and Kieran have mastered climbing the steps. Too bad they don't like to climb them together, it might save me some time going up and down them all day. The walking practice is in full swing. Rowan will attempt to walk to you if you stand him up and let go. He's getting pretty good, taking more and more steps each time. Kieran on the other hand will only do it when he wants to.

One of their Christmas gifts was a boat load of balls. The other night after dinner and bath we surprised the boys with a swimming pool filled with balls, they loved it! Kieran enjoyed picking them up one by one and throwing them out of the pool. Rowan was so excited to see the pool, the he couldn't figure out which color ball to eat first.

Baby Steps

Rowan took his first steps today!!! He was holding onto the exersaucer and just let go to walk 4-5 steps towards Patrick. Of course the two of us stared at him, not sure whether to scream with joy or cry. I didn't have the camera ready, unlike the tree incident you can't really make him wait for the perfect photo opportunity. Rest assured tomorrow is a new day and the camera will be on all day. However, I did get some cute photos of him playing with my phone headset.

Happy New Year!

Busy, Busy, Busy, that sums up 2008! We had an full calendar of events this holiday season. Fortunately we were able to see many family members and spend some quality time with them all. Rowan and Kieran were troopers, staying up late and socializing with many new faces without much fuss. They loved all the attention their second cousins gave them on Christmas eve.

The boys were excellent in a restaurant the day after Christmas, we were there for over 3 hours!

The fun didn't stop after Christmas either. They continued to relish in all the attention their aunts and uncles gave them at the post Christmas celebration.

What a New Years treat, tasting snow balls for the first time! Thanks Dad:)
