St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's day isn't what it used to be. Long gone are the days of drinking green beer before noon, instead we dressed our kids up in green and headed to the local parade with the neighbors. Rowan and Kieran caught their first glimpses of fire trucks, marching bands and crazy floats. They seems to like it, even when the fire engines blasted their very loud horns.

Rowan has his first taste of peanut butter the other day. Kieran wasn't to interested in it, he just wanted to get out of the high chair.

We also switched their car seats to forward facing. I'm looking forward to putting the DVD player to use on the long trips upstate now!

Sunshine

I'm sitting here listening to Kieran, Patrick and Rowan giggling/laughing at Mickey Mouse. They're dancing to the hot dog dance and Rowan just said "hot dog", this may be his first words. Kierans' is baaoon (balloon, he's obsessed). What a nice end to the day.

We took the boys outside to get some fresh air and let their noses run, get those germs out! Patrick and I set up the very cool water/sand table, Thanks Uncle Alex and Aunt Sha Sha. Rowan had a great time pretend pushing his boats around (there was no water). Kieran liked taking all the toys out and putting them in his shopping cart and then pushing it back and forth on the deck. Another good garbage find!

I have been trying to teach the boys how to use a spoon. A girlfriend suggested filling a bowl with cool whip and letting them try to get it with a spoon all on their own. We were very surprised at how well they did, it was a mess but they did actually get the spoons in their mouths.

How the Heck do you get Snow Boots on a Kid??

Seriously getting snow boots on children should be a heck of a lot easier than it was today. If anyone has any tricks please pass them on, I nearly lost it trying to get the boots on the boys and they were several sizes to big! First a big thank you to everyone who has ever passed down their childrens clothing to us. I was able to round up 2 snow suits and 2 pairs of boots while the boys took a morning nap. Kieran was the lucky child, wearing a snowsuit just his size, while poor Rowan was jammed into a 3T. He didn't seem to mind once we got him outside. The boots were both bigger sizes but really do they walk far. They had no idea how to walk in hard soled shoes. Kieran just lay on the living room floor trying to move like an inch worm.

Once outside Rowan loved the snow. He couldn't get enough. He was walking and trying to climb in the mounds Patrick had piled up on the deck for them. Kieran, totally different story; he just stood there for some time deciding to take his first steps very caustiously. Too cute. Once he realized he could crawl he was alittle more adventurous. Some of you may notcie the awesome gates that were installed this past weekend, thank you dad and Patrick for all your hard work!

Craziness

**This post was partially written February 21st, but published March 3rd**
We have been a little busy/crazy in our house the past few weeks. The boys are both getting teeth and haven't been taking it that well. Kieran is up to his old antics of crying all night long until you hold him and Rowan just hasn't been himself with the addition of teeth and a serious knock on the head. I have been running ragged, up all night with Kieran and up super early (think before 5 am) with Rowan and Kieran. Many days filled with half hour naps if we are lucky. Pat and I decided to tackle the no sleep at night head on last night. I swear Kieran has been through CIO (cry it out) so many times you would think he was a master by now. Last night was night one, he cried for 1 hour and 15 minutes, finally got the picture at 1 am. Got up at 3 and did it all over again. I am so proud of us for not going in there. Hopefully tonight will be better. We also started letting them hold their own bottles. Figuring it's about time, them being a year old and all. We set up their boppys that they love since they are super soft and fluffy (Thanks Kathy), and let them lay down holding their milk while watching an episode of Blues Clues. It's worked out so far and surprisingly there hasn't been much resistance at night.

Both boys are on the move. Rowan is practically running and Kieran started to walk all over the place about 2 days ago. It's funny to see Rowan zipping all over and Kieran still walking in the Frankenstein pose, arms out and feet wide. They have also discovered how to get on the couch now! Let's just say it's not that fun with two little people all over the couch not really knowing where it ends.

Grandpa Casey found the boys a really cool workbench at the town recycle center. They love turning on the table saw and carrying the tool box around. Thanks again, what a great find!!
