Every morning starts the same here. After the initial wake up and demand for yogurt shakes, the boys head into the living room to read their books. I found them the other morning combining all the things they love: shake and go race track, book reading and their tent.

Enjoying the Sun
As many of us know the sun has been very elusive this summer. Many days have been spent inside reading books, climbing sofas, chasing cats and whining to mom. So once the sun peaks its pretty little rays through we head on out to enjoy it. Some of our favorite past times include, throwing all toys off the deck, climbing in the water table, and most recently playing with the hose. Rowan and Kieran had their first experience with the hose the other day. I was too tired to fill up their baby pool, so I filled some bowls of water instead. They had a blast! Only problem was that they constantly emptied the bowls and wanted me to fill them back up. I finally smartened up and left the hose on as a very little trickle. Well this just sealed the deal for them, both of them spent the rest of the afternoon trying to master drinking form the hose with out getting water up their noses.
This past Sunday Patrick finally had a day off of work and we decided to take the boys to a local train club. They let you ride the trains around a track twice, cute idea, right.... Let's just say we aren't going to Dutch Wonderland anytime soon.

Father's Day and Spaghetti Dinner
Rowan and Kieran love to sit in "big people" chairs, last weekend we had dinner as a family at the table. I acquired both booster seats from yard sales, one with strap and one without. I'm on the hunt for another one with straps, it would make me more at ease when they sit at the table. We also found a new food they love, spaghetti! Both boys had a great time eating it, Rowan actually ate a meatball for the first time and Kieran had to be bribed with garlic bread to stay in his seat, guess which booster he was in.
Patrick celebrated his second Father's Day with his boys. He enjoyed a relaxing day at his parents house, where Rowan and Kieran had a blast playing with their aunts and uncles. They explored the yard and the house.

Knitting 101
My desire to learn how to knit really surfaced out of sheer frugalness. The boys are cloth diapered for most of the day with the exception of nighttime. I cringe every time I have to purchase special nighttime diapers. This lead me to my desire to knit a nighttime soaker to cover the cloth diapers. Many people thought I was crazy to try a soaker as my first knitting project but hey what could I lose. Fast forward 2 weeks.... Alex gets wind of my knitting escapades and request a Mohawk hat. If you buy the pattern I will try I tell him. After 3 nights of knitting I have finally completed the hat with one minor step to be done... felting... Here is the hat before I felted it! Looks okay on Patrick's head, let's just say thank god I took a picture before I felted. Here is the hat after I felted:

Obviously I need to read up on felting. I still have to felt the soaker for the boys, which by the way was much harder to knit than this silly hat!

Rowan, Kieran and I spent the weekend upstate with my parents and Uncle Jimmy. The boys had a great time in their new chairs and playing with Uncle Jimmy's hat.

Boys
The boys are becoming very independent. They love to sit in big people chairs and eat. While I don't mind them doing this it is just so much easier to let them eat outside. Afterwards the birds like to come and pick up all the crumbs they have left behind.
The other morning I heard that eerie silence that makes you wonder what they are doing. This usually means they are jumping on the couch or opening a cabinet in tandem. To my delight they were both sitting on their stools, reading to each other. It was the cutest thing ever.
We took the four wheelers outside this past Sunday for the first time. Kieran took to it like a pro, riding around the whole yard. Rowan was more content to ride it 2 feet get off, explore, get back on go two more feet, get off and explore. After they were done we put the 4-wheelers in the house to charge. Well this morning I had to move them into our bedroom because they wouldn't stop touching them. I was cleaning the floor (with my hoover floormate, highly recommend)this morning, no easy task with 2 little helpers. As I was kicking toys off the hardwood floors so I could clean them, Kieran some how got into our bedroom and decided he was going to ride it. Rowan used this opportunity to empty the dirty water all over the floor from the floormate. It was quite comical to have Kieran zipping around on the 4 wheeler, and Rowan splashing in dirty water. Ah it's moments like these that I have to sit back and remember I'm a mom to 16 month old twin boys....
